Nola Fontaine is a glamorous former model, singer, poet, songwriter, and avid reader who has now turned her hand to writing novels. Her first book, Veronica’s Destiny, is the story of a beautiful, pampered, over-sexed, intelligent young lady from a wealthy background who is determined to become a tycoon.

It draws on the author’s intimate knowledge of the world’s rich, powerful and famous. She has mixed with naughty aristos in draughty stately homes, frolicked on South of France beach with film producers, sailed the Mediterranean on yachts with friends, and gambled at the Monte Carlo casino. As a former wifelet of the flamboyant Marquess of Bath there is little that she doesn’t know about sophisticated living.

Nola was born in Jamaica, the daughter of a local plantation-owner and businessman. She arrived in the UK at a tender age to attend boarding school. But, when barely 16, she dropped her studies for a career in showbiz. With her rich Soul Queen voice she quickly established herself as a singer, with music critics hailing her as ‘the new Shirley Bassey’ and ‘Britain’s Tina Turner’. ‘All very flattering’, she says, ‘but I’d rather be remembered as the first Nola Fontaine’.

As she became more established the plaudits continued. ‘Nola is musical dynamite’ (Evening Standard); ‘Nola is glam rock personified’ (The Stage); ‘Nola can swing, belt out rockers and handle soft ballads’ (Music Week); ’Only those made of stone will be able to stand still when they hear Nola. With her big personality, charm, looks and voice this gal is heading for the big time (The Stage). And succeed Nola did.

She topped the bill at concerts throughout Europe, Scandinavia and the Far East. At the Royal Albert Hall she received a standing ovation when she performed before 5,000 Society kids at a Valentine’s Day ball. She also played to sell-out audiences at those iconic London venues Boisdale, Heaven and Pizza on the Park.

As well as her singing career Nola was the first woman here to launch her own record label, Ample Productions. She wrote, sang and produced her first record, No Perfection, which enjoyed a cult success on the funky London and the National club circuit. She also collaborated with recording maestro Trevor Horn on two of her compositions, Can’t Explain It and Love You Tonight.

Now, with her boundless energy, vivid imagination and insider knowledge, Nola is embarking on an exciting new career in writing.
